HOW CAN BLOGGING HELP YOUR BUSINESS?

“GreenCine is a company that rents DVDs online and relies heavily on their blog to drive sales. The GreenCine Daily blog (www.daily.greencine.com) draws over 2,500 visitors a day who are interested in their coverage of independent and alternative cinema. Although owner Dennnis Woo was originally skeptical that blogging would noticeably enhance their bottom line, he now says blogging is ‘core to our strategy’ and credits the blog with helping double his company’s sales in 2004.”

“Landfair Furniture is a small business run by Mike and Bev Landfair in Portland, Oregon. Mike and Bev decided to try blogging in hopes that it would drive traffic to their online site and boost awareness of their store. In just a few months of posting, they reported that the blog (www.landfairfurniture.blogspot.com) had definitely enhanced sales. As Mike Landfair says, ‘In an economy that still seems a little slow, our traffic to our main store has increased, and sales are up a healthy percentage over last year.’”

“During the first three months of posting to her blog (www.nhydefineart.typepad.com), Colorado artist Nicole Hyde claims sales through the site were three times that of her physical gallery. When asked to compare the real and virtual outlets, Hyde says, ‘So far the blog’s winning.’”

NICE THINGS
PEOPLE SAY

"Case-specific web sites with blog-style stories have proven very effective in accomplishing our firm's goals. We find that blogs, which are updated frequently with new content, give us great visibility in search engines, allow us to communicate important case and safety information quickly, and allow us to really connect with the public. Jennifer Walker-Journey has been an integral part of our success with this new web site venture. She provides timely, professionally written copy, and is able to tailor content to meet our specific needs. Jennifer creates a compassionate voice for the victims of defective products, environmental disasters and personal injury that really makes our blogs effective."

"I have been delighted with Jennifer's work with my company. She is one of the very few writers out there today who has uniquely positioned herself to provide really strong online content for businesses smart enough to capitalize on it.  In today's world, businesses need to be thinking of themselves as free publishers, producing lots of valuable content for their prospects.  You need someone with Jennifer's experience and talent set to help you keep up with the volume and quality this endeavor is going to take! I could not recommend her more highly."

- Phyllis Neill, President/CEO, WeMentors

"Jennifer has been fantastic to work with creating the verbiage for my website and written materials for my company, Amerson Events. I put together bullet points of the information and she used her wordsmith magic to write clear concise content that fit exactly what was needed. She captured the right mood and feel that I was going after for the content. Jennifer had some great suggestions on moving some of the text to other sections to facilitate a better flow of information and cohesion in the thoughts. I highly recommend using her anytime you need help writing and translating your ideas to a written form."

WHAT IS THE BLOGGER ADVANTAGE?

When I tell people I am a professional blogger, they usually do a doubletake. Why would a business want a blog? A regular blog is an opportunity for businesses to market themselves to countless people all over the world. Consider it an advertising medium that allows you to communicate directly with potential customers who are actively researching your product or service. And, it allows the business to present yourself as an expert in your field.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Blog sites are essentially Web sites with copy that is updated on a frequent basis, usually a few times a week to several times daily. This continuous updating of Web content and strategic use of keywords and topics makes it even more attractive to search engines, and thus most likely to come up when a potential customer searches for something in your line of business.

For example, let’s say you’re a car dealer. You have an established Web site but decide to add a blog and a few times a week post stories about a variety of topics that may appeal to potential customers. You may write about the new car shipment that just came in, or new incentives being offer by your dealership, or even the pros and cons of hybrids.

A potential customer is considering buying a car in the next several months. He goes online to research specific makes and models. He may also search for car companies offering incentives such as low interest rates or maintenance packages. Let’s say during a Google search he sees a story on “How to know if I’m getting a great deal on a new car?” He clicks on to one of your blog posts, which is clearly marked with your company’s information. With any luck, he may decide to click on the “contact” e-mail for a direct quote.

CAN'T I DO THAT?

Sure. Anyone can write a blog. But do you really have time to sit in front of a computer and generate blog post ideas, research them and then write them in a way that others may want to read? And then do it several times a week? Time, after all, is money, and time you spend in front of the computer is time you could be spending doing what it is you do best. Working with those customers who come to you for your product or service.

If your blog is interesting and provides professional, informative content, written in a error-free, professional style, it boosts your credibility and helps build trust with the customers you want to reach.

HOW MUCH DO YOU CHARGE?

You might be surprised just how affordable hiring your own blogger is. It is far less expensive than traditional television, radio or print advertising. Your cost is based on how often you want me to post. I can also provide recommended Tweets to accompany posts for hassle-free Twittering.

HOW DO I LEARN MORE?

When you contact me, we will discuss what you want to promote, who you want to reach, and how often you want new content posted to your site. Based on that information, I will provide you with a free estimate. In most cases, I can begin blogging for you within a week.
